Google internet plans have four fiber internet options, with two being serviceable for most people in the coverage areas. Google Fiber 1000 offers upload speeds of 1000 Mbps and download speeds of 1000 Mbps for $70.
Google Fiber is only available in a limited number of cities, largely major metropolitan areas. In 2024, Google Fiber is coming to a handful of new cities in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Nevada, Missouri, Nebraska, South Carolina, Tennessee and Utah. Growth is occurring in North Carolina and Texas as well.
Google Fiber does not require subscribers to sign on to a long-term contract, so you have no early termination fees. Google Fiber operates month-by-month, meaning you can drop the service anytime.
Google Fiber does not add equipment fees to your monthly bill. A network box, fiber jack and router are provided at installation, which is free. Remember that if you need to replace any of those, you will be charged for them. You are also expected to return all equipment when you end service, or pay for it.
Google doesn’t have its own TV service, but it does partner with streaming services like YouTube TV, FuboTV, Philo or Sling TV — four popular streaming live television services that offer a wide variety of channels, including local cable networks.
In general, Google Fiber provides better speeds at more affordable prices than its competitors, and with more flexibility thanks to unlimited data and no long-term contracts. However, it is only available in a small number of locations, which means most people do not have access to it.
Google Fiber stands out among internet service providers for its top ratings in speed, pricing and customer service.
At $70 to $150/mo., Google Fiber’s plans are competitively priced.
Google Fiber doesn’t have contracts or data caps.
Google Fiber has symmetrical speeds, meaning if you sign up 1,000 Mbps, you’ll get the same in upload speed.
Google Fiber is available in parts of 16 states.
Two plans are available to more cities and both are very fast and could be too much for a small household. The two larger plans are less available and might be best for a small business.
The one-time $300 fee is a bit steep.
